Under the auspices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the Catholic Social Ministry Gathering (CSMG) aims to form and resource Catholic leaders for the social mission of the Church. This annual gathering is organized by USCCB’s Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development, in collaboration with other USCCB departments and national Catholic organizations. CSMG serves as the central gathering in the United States for the professional development of current and emerging leaders in Catholic social ministry. In plenary sessions and workshops, leaders explore responses to a range of challenges to human life and dignity including economic injustice, poverty and hunger, war and violence, and environmental degradation. Informed by Catholic social teaching, participants visit with members of Congress to encourage national leaders to protect and lift up our most vulnerable sisters and brothers, and promote the common good.
